Foto Friday: Week 6

This week's theme was "Obsession."
This photo combines three passions of mine: quilting and digital scrapbooking topped off with a snack of hershey almond kisses! Awww...life is good!

This photo was edited with PTM's Jubilee and PTM's Timeworn Texture. I also used a time worn photo edge and clipping mask from Designer Digitals.

Foto Friday: Week 5

This week's theme was delicate!
The last few days have been consumed with the Blizzard of 2011 here in the midwest! So....I'm thinking how can I find something delicate in all the snow.....ah, hah....all those huge snow drifts and blinding road conditions all start with the most delicate of snowflakes! It's mind boggling to me to see the power of all those tiny, beautiful flakes!
I took this picture last evening when we ventured out to see the snow-covered landscape after being house bound for two days! I saw that I even captured the long evening shadows!
This picture was edited with PTM's Misty Sunset and a textured overlay, plus I added a vintage frame.

Foto Friday: Week 4

This week's theme for PTM's Let's Do 52 Challenge was blessings. Below is the picture that I submitted.....

This necklace represents so many blessings in my life.....my faith in God, my loving husband, and my three beautiful children.
This photograph is edited with PTM's Sunny Days plus a vintage frame was added.

Foto Friday....Week 3

This week's photo theme was Abandoned with an alternate theme of Doors. I had found this old stone building while driving around out in the rural area of the town of Holland. This building struck me last spring while taking a photography class....so when I saw what the theme was, I immediately remembered this building. I used an action set from Paint the Moon called Sea Delight, plus I added a texture layer. I finished the look off with a vintage frame look from Designer Digitals.

Foto Friday....Weeks 1 and 2

Last week I joined a Flickr group that challenges us to take pictures every week this year. The name of the project is Paint The Moon Let's Do 52. Check out their blog to see what the excitement is all about!

The theme for Week 1 was New Beginnings.....
Here is the entry that I submitted.....

My new beginning is the first marriage of one of my grown children. My youngest, my only son, was married to his high school sweetheart the week before Christmas. I snapped this picture during their first dance...I used Paint The Moon's Sugar Cookies from the Sweet Treats Photoshop Actions Set. The first pic is the original, the second has a dark vignette added and the third has a light vignette effect added.
This moment was bittersweet for me...I'm thrilled for my son and his lovely bride, but my role as a mother is changing. Think I'm still trying to figure it all out...(the next wedding is in August!)

The theme for this week . . . Week 2 is Togetherness

Togetherness was Em and Ebony playing together in the freshly fallen snow!I used some sweet photoshop actions to edit the picture from Paint The Moon ...check out their site for some awesome freebies!

Something You Love to Do.....

I just brought out a quilt project that I started about 5 years ago.....well, alot happened during those years that kept me from something that I love to do! So when I brought out the fabric, the pattern, my sewing machine, and set up the ironing board and iron.....I just felt such a sense of excitement and anticipation  to get back on track with a great project. I took some pictures to share with you.....
What is something that you just love to do?
Take the time to do whatever it is that brings you happiness and purposefully today decide to "choose joy!"

Happy New Year....off to a new start....I hope!

Yes, I'm still here....
December was a busy month for me...the biggest thing was the wedding of my son, Joel, to his lovely bride, Laura! I am thrilled to have her as part of our family and a life's partner for my son. I truly believe that the Lord has great things in store for them.

Then, of course, a week later was Christmas. I'm not sure if I truly reflected on the gloriousness of what Christmas is about, but I indeed thank God for sending His only Son to earth as a baby on that first Christmas!
So even though there was extreme "hecticness" at our house......I really have no choice, but to "choose joy" as we start this wonderful new year of 2011.
